God’s Gifts on Mother’s Day

I think of God’s gifts to me:

God’s gift of two little hooties.
God’s gift of Brenda to us, to make the dream of becoming a mother possible.
God’s gift of life – the dream of becoming parents.
God’s gift of family and friends to support us through loss.
God’s gift of Dan to walk this path of life not only with me, but beside me, holding my hand.
God’s gift of marriage as we celebrate 7 years of marriage on this Mother’s Day.
God’s gift of Mother’s Day – a day to remind me of the gifts my mother and mother-in-law are to me.
God’s gift of being able to say…I am a mother.
God’s gift of being able to say that for the first time.
God’s gift of tears, to be able to express our love for our two little ones in heaven.
God’s gift of love as we grieve.
God’s gift of embrace as He wraps us in His arms this week and always.
God’s gift of goodness – He will never let us walk this path alone.
God’s gift of others – the generosity and thoughtfulness of those who have lost children and those who haven’t – they all speak words and actions of love.
God’s gift of salvation – that one day we too, will be walking the streets of gold, holding our children’s hands.

Though this Mother’s Day is a reminder of what we have lost, we know that in heaven our two little babies celebrate with the Giver of life – their Father who created them.

To our little babies: Oh how we just long to hold you, but we know that one day we will. Our arms feel so empty at times, but our hearts are full of love for you and even more so for your Creator. On this Mother’s Day, know that your mother is so blessed and humbled to call you my children. Even though we are separated for this short time, I know that our Father is taking such good care of you – what more could a mother want? To know her children are safe in their Creator’s arms.

I pray for all of you, this day, who desire to be a mother, who have lost a child, and who have a child in your arms. May God overwhelm you with His peace and love – His unconditional love for YOU.

As we celebrate 7 years of marriage today, we praise God for the gifts He has given us – not only our children, but each other. We never imagined that in our 7 years, God would take us on the journey He has, but we continue to walk together, closer than ever. I am just in awe of the gift God has given me through Dan – my best friend. We are often found together and we would not want it any other way. I cannot wait to see what the next 100 years look like together!
