Around The Home
This past week for many of you, has probably been a pleasant surprise with the weather! I feel like the weather is such a cliche thing to talk about, but really, snow and sleet in mid-April? Fairly impressive!
I went to a different country this week! Canada, eh? My old college roommate lives near the Niagara Falls area/an hour or so from Toronto, so Dan generously watched our daughter, with the help of my mom, while I was able to get away for a few days! It was SUCH a great time, despite the absolutely crazy weather of freezing rain! Thankfully I was able to make it there and back with relatively good weather. Always good to catch up with old friends! I realize I didn’t take many pictures though…I should’ve been better at that! We played games, which is always a way to my heart, just talked and got caught up, and I was also able to meet their families too.
We have been busy painting and working on our house at night. We decided to paint the inside of our porch since the blues would not match after we paint the outside of our home. Painting over navy isn’t an easy task, but it’s getting there! Plus, it’s a pebbled texture, which makes it even more interesting, but it is almost complete!
On a brisk afternoon, we went to two of our youth group girls’ softball game, while Mazy just relaxed on the grass and drew…
My pants might be just a tad large for her yet! She sure does love helping me fold and put away clothes though!
Friday morning, on my way to Canada! Here’s the bridge that connects the two countries, at the Port Huron crossing.
If you look REAL close, in the middle of the picture, you can see Toronto! This is looking across Lake Ontario. It was quite cold and windy that day, so we didn’t last long by the water.
Even though Michigan is connected to Canada, they carry things that the USA does not. This was a first for me…caramel mentos!
All the whitecaps on Lake Ontario prove that it was a WINDY day on the way to Ikea!
A place that I have only been once before, Ikea! A place to dream in, but also find some good deals!
Another difference is that Canadians call our Smarties, Rockets.
And our M&Ms are their Smarties!
This was my first time driving in another country and I know it’s only Canada, but boy do they make the kilometer numbers on our speedometers SMALL! Sometimes it feels good to step away from normal routine and see other’s lives; especially in another country! Surely was a good weekend, but I was SURE ready to see Mazy and Dan! That was the first time I had been away from her overnight since the surgery, so we weren’t sure how it’d go. Could’ve gone better for Dan, but by Monday (the day I came home), she was in a groove. Go figure, right?
