Dan’s Headed to Belize!
Some exciting news….
Dan is going to Belize! That has given us both much excitement in our hearts. Back in September, Joe (someone from our old church) had asked Dan if he’d be interested in going to Belize. At the time, we had no clue where we were going to be, so Dan said no, but was maybe a little bummed. Well, this past week Dan saw that Joe was still looking for people to go, so Dan contacted him. We knew Dan had all the time in the world to serve, but the finances were obviously an issue. When we learned of how much he had to come up with, we crunched some numbers from Christmas money, money God blessed us with from those we don’t even know, and from other random things, we realized we could cover the cost! Doesn’t that just give you chills? It still does (even as I type this). Dan is SO excited because he feels this is a really great way to use the time he has and his able body, for the glory of God. And honestly, I am completely okay with just him going – God has given me so much peace about it. After praying about it, there was just such a sense of peace and knowledge knowing Dan is meant to go – so yes, he has my blessing!
Dan will be resurfacing a roof on a medical clinic in Patchakan, Belize. Patchakan is located at the tip top of Belize. He will be flying into Belize City, which is along the Caribbean Sea. This village is 9 miles from the Mexican border and not far from the Yucatan Peninsula. He will be gone for 5-6 days and will be leaving in a little over 2 weeks! Missions have always been something Dan and I firmly believe in – we feel there is so much to gain from other cultures and reaching out to those in need. Mission trips always have surprises and often aren’t what you “expect” them to be going into them, but Dan has been on enough of them, knowing that God has a plan and he is just excited to be a part of it! Not sure what type of interaction I will have with him while he is gone, but I will definitely be writing blog posts about his experiences – OR, maybe Dan will write them????
We are just very excited about this opportunity! Something for us both to look forward to – knowing God will grow us both through this opportunity. Gives us confidence that God can and is still using us in His Kingdom. This is something tangible to grasp onto, which is an immense blessing!
