On A Run…
I have been trying to get back into running lately and boy does it feel good! I am one of those “spurt” runners – I run in spurts. Sometimes I take like a 2 weekish break and then realize, I should get back into it – ever have that?
It’s been a little chillier outside, but I love it. I love it because God always has something to teach us no matter what the season. No matter what the season of life.
As I ran, I could feel the cold breeze whizzing past my face, blowing my hair back, making my eyes water. Sometimes I feel like that is life. Life just whizzes by us, at high-wind speed. Sometimes I want to go back – I want to go back to the way things were – when we had our babies. That makes my eyes water. But I know we have to keep moving forward – God has given us our babies to be memories instead of in our arms – it is not for us to understand right now. Hard to grasp at times, but it is not for our understanding at this time.
Leaves are covering the ground, the corn is chopped, and God is preparing His earth for a new “season.” That is what I feel God is doing in our life. God is preparing our path – clearing the pathway so that we can walk into a new season. God is changing our surroundings, helping us figure out what is really important in life, and is pruning our hearts so that they may be ready for the “new season,” whatever that may be.
Excitement. Do you ever have immense excitement over winter or summer coming? I know, I know, you are probably thinking “who gets excited about winter?” That would be Dan and Kristin. When there is a blizzard outside, you will find Dan and Kristin riding around in their Explorer, checking out the scenery or taking a walk down the street. There are times when I enjoy sitting inside on a blustery day, drinking hot chocolate and making a puzzle, but there is another side of me that can’t WAIT to get out there and soak in God’s mighty power through a blizzard. Dan and I are excited to see what new season is around the corner. Sometimes it felt like there was a huge blizzard going on in our life, but we have been surrounded by such support and love from family and friends. It has been hard to go out into the storm and try to see past the storm, but we know God works for the good of those who love Him and keep His commandments. We just have to keep trusting.
God is faithful and we trying to do the same – faithfully. We are trying to see God work in all seasons of life – and He has. Sometimes the wind whizzes by and makes us cry, but there are other times we see leaves falling, in preparation for a new season – that we are excited about. One day God will reveal that to us, but until then, we are trying to enjoy the season that He has us in right now – it is not for waste, but for pruning and growth.
Next time you go on a walk or run, think about the season of life God has YOU in. In His time, in His time, He makes everything BEAUTIFUL, in His time.
