Where God Calls, He Equips
Yesterday I had the chance to do something that I truly NEVER imagined doing.
You see, public speaking, years ago, would’ve sent me into an outright panic attack. Full out heart-racing, can’t breathe, panic. But then God got ahold of this heart of mine and has done some mighty work, physically and spiritually.
I had the privilege of sharing my story at Kuyper College, where I was a 2006 alum. It truly was such an honor because that is the LEAST I can do for the college that God used to make me who I am today! To see familiar faces and meet many new ones, was truly such an honor. This isn’t about me and it never has been. It is all about what God is doing. When I received an email asking if I would speak, of course my human side kicks in and thinks “I’m not worthy or qualified…” but then I set those thoughts aside and realized no, where God calls, He equips.
And I will tell you…God put just the right promptings in my life today, to encourage me that this is not about me, but has everything to do with what He is doing in and through me. I don’t know if you’ve heard the song “My Story” by Big Daddy Weave, but sure enough, this played while I was driving today and I truly think God put that on the radio for this girl to hear. I have heard this song countless times, but more than ever, it registered in my heart that truly, all I want to do is “praise my Savior all the day long!” Here are the lyrics and my prayer:
My Story
If I told you my story
You would hear Hope that wouldn’t let go
And if I told you my story
You would hear Love that never gave up
And if I told you my story
You would hear Life, but it wasn’t mine
If I should speak then let it be
Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him
If I told you my story
You would hear victory over the enemy
And if I told you my story
You would hear freedom that was won for me
And if I told you my story
You would hear Life overcome the grave
If I should speak then let it be
Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my savior all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my savior all the day long
For the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell
Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
I would not consider myself a public speaker – in fact, FAR from that. But what I do know is that God has called and He will equip! My friend, YOU have a story to tell. Why? Because if you have devoted your life to Christ, it is a story that tells of Him. And His grace. And His love. Don’t keep it silent!
