I am finding that the best summer days are when you don’t have a clue what time it is, when the house is a disaster, you eat who knows what, just to satisfy hunger, and you can just spend it outside enjoying the beautiful weather with family and friends. During those moments, it sometimes feels like life can’t get any better! It seems we spent most of the week in a lake or pool, with family or friends. Like we often said, THIS IS THE LIFE!
We have an inground pool, and I have to say, it’s tough to get it to warm up without a heater. It is a VERY old pool, like from the 60s or 70s we are told, but we wondered if there was a very inexpensive way to heat the pool. Well, leave it to my handyman Dan, to work wonders! He found solar panels online for SUPER cheap, but they leaked. Well, after a few different tries, he finally read somewhere to put a pellet in the holes and sure enough, it stopped the leaks! Now our pool is warm and you can actually swim in it comfortably. AND we don’t have to pay a dime more, thanks to the sun. When I first saw this sight, I admit I kind of freaked out. But after assessing the situation and realizing she was just fine and Dan was right there, I knew I had to snap a picture. This girl wants to be with daddy, no matter where he is, helping him fix things!
It’s berry picking time! Mazy was pretty proud of the big strawberry she found!
And no strawberry picking at the farm is complete without a cow getting out! I admitted to my niece that it brought me back to my past-time, which honestly, was kinda fun. And yes, we got it back in the pen!

Her cousins have a little gator and taught Mazy how to drive it, so that we didn’t have to carry all of the strawberries back. Don’t let her face fool you – she LOVED it! She was so concentrated and didn’t want to stop!

It’s always fun being a kid again, while hanging out with friends at a park!
The first part of the week, Mazy went to cousins camp with her grandpa and grandma in Cadillac. She was looking SO forward to it! Camping for 3 days with cousins and grandparents…her smile says it all!
Mazy’s first horseback ride! She had ridden a miniature horse this past Mazy, but this was a “real” horse :).
In 2 weeks, we will be leaving on our youth group mission trip to Alaska! It is actually an intergenerational trip, which we love all the more – there is something to see the generations in the church, coming together. I still plan to go, Lord-willing! I had to back out of a trip to Alaska in 2008 a week and a half before we left because I had a pilonidal cyst that was surgically removed. So I know how quickly our plans can change! Just leaving it up to God and trusting that my heart will be healthy enough for me to go.
