How many electronic gadgets do you have?
A few years ago, we were in the hunt for a guest bed. We had recently moved to Minnesota and with the hopes of having visitors from our home state of Michigan, we wanted our home (and bed) to be a place people wanted to come to. Not a place where they dreaded the horrible…
I was 17, in the pediatric ICU, attempting to take my first steps after my initial open heart surgery to correct a congenital heart defect. This was a big deal, since walking meant steps closer to discharge. As I gingerly walked past the nurse’s station, with wires holding my sternum together, one particular nurse asked…
What: Catalogs and Ads Why: How often do you actually buy something from those catalogs or ads? How often do you look through the Sunday ads mindlessly, not really looking to buy anything new? I think catalogs and ads are the biggest time wasters if you not looking to buy anything. Catalogs and ads only…
Dollar stores can have a stigma of having cheap, not-worth-it items. Some may never even step foot into one because it’s not “worth their money.” Well, I remember when we first were married, we had adopted a soldier overseas. We had contacted him and asked him what he would like in a care package. Many…
One of my most favorite businesses to partner with is Personal Planner. They are actually based out of Sweden, but I look forward to participating with international company each time. My own planner was about to run out, so I was eager to design this coming year’s planner! I’ve been designing one from fall to…
When meeting with the surgeon last week, he told me that I could live a normal life again. A normal life. When he said that, I started to tear up, but in reality, I had no idea what I was tearing up about because truthfully speaking, I have never known normal. And who has? What…

Great post. I have an iPad which I love. It replaced my laptop when it died. I work at home & my job provides the work PC. I have a cell phone but don't have a smartphone. I'm tethered to my computer all day so I like being away from it when I'm out & about.
I like this! Being able to step away IS a beautiful thing!
I love having a smartphone and it would be hard to live without once you get used to it but it is a convenience not a necessity. I moved up from a tracfone a year ago but still don't have a regular data plan. I mostly rely on wifi. So much is spent on expensive plans and high end phones.
The biggest negative I see is the distraction they are when with other people. Way too easy to keep checking phones or messing with them instead of spending time together.
That is exactly how I feel – once you get one, it would be hard to go back :). I agree too, that they can be a distraction – but I realize that even with my tracfone, I can easily pick it up and text someone, when with other people. It's a reality check and it's always something to think about! Thanks for sharing!
