  • Simple Living: What I Am Not

Paging through magazines, looking through the latest sales ad, listening to your friends talk about the latest and greatest “thing” they just bought. Ever look in that magazine or scroll through that blog and wish your home looked like it was straight out of House Beautiful or Country Living? I have my days. But more…

I (heart) organizing. Is my house a picture of organization? Um, no. But one thing that I do value is ridding my life of clutter. I used to have this organizing blog called “Organizing Life With Less.” It was great! Talk about helping me pare down to what I would call the more “minimal” way…

  3. I really want to share how I do my spices, but it's sort of hard to explain. I'll give it a shot, and if you like the idea, I'll forward pix.

We took some trim 1/2"x2" and cut it to just under the width of a cabinet door. My sweetheart mounted them on the door with 1/2"x1/2" brackets. About an inch above the ends of each mounted piece of trim, he put a 2" metal bracket. Then we strung strong wire through the holes on the brackets, making a line between the two brackets just under an inch from the top of each piece of wood. That made a little retainer to hold the little plastic containers of spices–in alphabetical order. Make sense? I keep any extra amounts of each spice in the back of a bottom drawer, where nothing else ever goes. Works for us!
