Savor
Life is meant to be savored. To be enjoyed completely. But how do we savor life when life maybe doesn’t look like we want it to or how we expected it to?
I believe it all comes down to our choices. The daily choices we make. The daily choices we make that make up our life.
It’s easy to forget that the daily choices we make, add up to the sum of our lives. Just think about it. What we choose to eat. Where we choose to work. What we do in our spare time. How much time we spend on social media and allow it to influence our lives. How much time we spend with our family. How much we invest in our faith. How much we choose to rely on God. All of these decisions add up to the sum of our lives. A life that we want to savor.
So let me ask, do the choices you make, line up with how you want to be living your life?
Just because our world tells you to live a certain way, doesn’t mean you have to. Isn’t that freeing? YOU get to choose how you live your life. But let me take that a step further. As much as we get to choose, we also don’t have to wander and wonder because we have a God who has given us guidelines on how to savor our lives. We get the opportunity to live our lives according to His character every day. We have the opportunity to uphold the expectations He has for His people every day. We also have the privilege of living out the stories He has given us with grace and peace, knowing He controls our days.
We have a God who has given us the freedom to choose, but has also given Himself as an example for us to follow. That allows us to live intentionally, with a plan, making our daily choices count toward something – glory.
Our citizenship is not here, but we know that one day, with our lives the sum of our choices, we will stand before our Savior. What will your life look like? Will it reflect the very Savior you are standing in front of? Will your life have reflected that of His?
When it comes to savoring, we CAN enjoy our lives completely. Even when life doesn’t go the way we had planned because daily we can make choices that reflect our Savior. When we keep our eyes fixed on him, we can savor our days and savor our Savior free of worry and wondering, embracing all that our days bring us. May our daily choices make up the sum of a life lived not for ourselves, but for Him.
