Packing Up Life
If you have moved before, like millions and millions do every year, you know the feeling. Where and how to pack everything away? What to keep, what not to keep? What to pack up and what should wait? Thanks to our town’s garage sale, we went through everything we owned, and purged of the unnecessary and unused, before we started the packing process. It was a fantastic feeling.
At first I thought it would be an easy task, solely because we have less stuff (or so I thought), but me having a crazy organizing brain, wants to pack everything up, with order. I am wiping down things that haven’t been used in awhile, trying to clean out areas as we go, and I see the boxes just piling up.
If you think we live a clutter free life, let me prove to you that our life is not always as “put together” as you might think! Though I must admit, I am enjoying the bare-er walls, the simplicity of packing things away, and living an even more, minimal lifestyle. Our new home is much larger than what we are living in now, so by default, it will probably feel like our house does now, until we start to decorate and make it our own.
The reason I am sharing these pictures is because this is what our life looks like right now! It’s crazy, it’s messy, but it has been good. Being able to take our time packing up, taking time to soak in the memories, but also dream about the future, has been an incredible blessing! So here’s a glimpse at what our house looks like now:
My old bedspread from my childhood (we sold our other one and had a new one sent to my sister in Michigan). Never thought I would use it again, but it sure has come in handy!
I have the mindset of “never clutter your bedroom” because I don’t want to fall asleep in clutter every night. Well, this is what the corner of our bedroom looks like right now! Does it drive me crazy? A little, but those boxes are neatly organized with our belongings, which makes me feel better!
We had kept all of our boxes from when we first moved to Minnesota, only because we didn’t think we would be in Minnesota forever. Also, since March, we have been collecting boxes, which we didn’t cut apart and stack neatly, as you can see!
Our downstairs storage closet is EMPTY!
Our holding station for all of our packed boxes and random items that need to find a home in a box yet.
Have you moved recently? Are you in the process of packing up? Do you plan to move in the near future? Does it cause you lots of stress? Do you look forward to it?
If you found out you had to move, would you have a lot to get rid of? Now is a GREAT time to start getting rid of things! The weather is warm, it’s garage sale season, and trust me, you will be glad you did in the end!
