See You Later, Minnesota and Hello, Michigan!

This post has been a long time in coming! It seems like decades ago that we packed up our home in Minnesota and made the trek to Michigan, but really, it was only 2 days ago! I can’t help but start this post by saying that God has once again, been so gracious to us! We have had no real big hiccups (outside of the boat lights not working the day we were moving). But if that is all that has happened, I’d say the official move has gone pretty smoothly!

On Thursday, Dan and I woke up of course, a bit emotional. We said our final goodbyes to friends, youth group kids, and a town we truly loved. There truly is no other “Prinsburg” and we feel blessed to have experienced it and to have been welcomed into the community there. Wednesday night, I picked up my sister from the airport, so she could help me drive back with Mazy, which was such a gift! The drive home was a bit eventful as I was pulled over and truthfully speaking, I wasn’t sure why he pulled me over! Little did I know I had a headlight out – whew! Verbal warning.

Back to Thursday morning. We finished our last minute packing, which for those of you who have moved, it’s hard to pack up everything when you are still living, sleeping, and eating at the home you live in. Lesson learned. Though, we didn’t feel too overwhelmed, thanks to my sister and friend who helped us clean, and for another friend who watched Mazy while we could go to town and pack. By 11 am, I said the final goodbyes. We prayed a tearful prayer together, thanking God for the past 4 years of our life – the challenges, the changes, and the miracles. It was now time to leave the physical area, but take the changes and memories with us forever.

The drive went extremely well, until Chicago of course, but thanks to the numerous trains and planes, Mazy was entertained! Mazy and I arrived at my parents at 11:45pm, so yes, it was a LONG day, but we made it, in one piece, and with no issues. The guys came with the two trailers a few hours later and they were back on the road by 5:30. Dan decided to drive through the night instead of sticking with the guys, and he made it to our home in the wee hours of the morning. And enough of the story…lets get on with the pictures…

On our way!!! It was a hard goodbye and my eyeballs were pretty sore from crying so much! Mazy though, had a fun new stuffed animal from Matt, that she clung to for the first while!

And then it was naptime…

One nice thing about living in the states is that you can create a countdown for the journey by how many states you have gone through and how many more to go. Needless to say, this was a very “welcoming” sign!

Speaking of welcoming, we decided to stop at the Welcome Center so I could put Mazy’s pjs on and we could stretch one more time for the last leg. Plus, I proved my touristy-ness by taking a bunch of tourist magazines! Though, I admit, when Dan and I first moved to Minnesota, I picked up a bunch of magazines like this, and because of those, we felt we got to know Minnesota very well!

It was a long night, but this sweetie pie was OUT that morning, until about 7:30am…which yes, is only 6 1/2 hours of sleep for those beauty…

Though really I was thankful Mazy woke up early because I couldn’t WAIT to go see our new house! I started to tear up as I pulled into the driveway, recognizing that THIS was OUR house! It was so beautiful and we were welcomed by Dan, a bouquet of flowers and a Paw Patrol stuffed animal for Mazy. Words were hard to come by as I walked through the house and realized that THIS was where we were going to be living for quite some time. And that it was OURS. This was the house we had dreamed about. This house was the answer to our prayers and even our wildest dreams! The previous owners even left Mazy a cute book and a plant for us!

One odd little quirk was that there were barely any doors on any doorway! Except to our bedroom and the bathroom. No doors upstairs and a few missing doors on the main floor. Though, while exploring the home, thinking we’d have to buy new ones that wouldn’t hold the same character, we found these hidden gems! Some of them even had the old school crystal-type door knobs on them, which we love.

Our dream home would be one with character, a little fixing up, so that we could make it our own, tall baseboards, higher ceilings, a large dining room, and an open concept. That was our DREAM. I’m telling you, that is EXACTLY what this house has! The character in this home is absolutely incredible! We can’t wait to do a paint make-over and make this place our home!

More pictures are to come…this is just the beginning! We decided tonight to just relax and put aside the to-do list! We currently sitting in a dark living room, realizing there are no lights in this room, but hey, that’s for another day, right?
