Around The Home
Almost every night, after Mazy has gone to bed, Dan and I look at each other and say “we love this house…” or say something that we are happy about with our home. We just sit in awe that THIS IS OUR HOME! And then to have a pool in the backyard? Yes, it is still incredibly surreal. When we close our eyes, while sitting by the pool, we seriously feel like we are sitting by the pool in Mexico. Again, surreal! Mazy continues to adjust incredibly well too. She has made our house her home, is even venturing upstairs, by herself (well maybe once), and of course can’t get enough of the pool. We just couldn’t be more humbled and thankful to call our house, our home.
We have kept plenty busy, by choice, and what fun we have had! Between working on little house projects to checking out the area, we definitely are resting well at night (though not always Mazy :)). Here’s a glimpse at what has been going on in our life!
I have been working on putting a fresh coat of paint on, well, almost everything, and my little sweet helper is always right there beside me! Of course I think she is the cutest painter to this day…
Between the little things around the house, I took some time to get back into baking. My little helped wanted to put the batter into the muffin tins, but I wasn’t sure that was the best “job” for her. Instead, I took out the Fruit Loops and she filled up the tins for me, just with different ingredients!
While baking, I thought Mazy should benefit too, so I made some homemade playdoh, for the first time, and I must say, IT TURNED OUT! And Mazy hasn’t stopped playing with it since!
Who needs an “official” pool slide when you have a backyard slide – turned pool slide?
She clearly thought it was a grand idea…
This girl seriously is a little fish!
And maybe part dog (check out the tongue…)
We received the sweetest little package from dear friends in Minnesota! Needless to say, Mazy LOVED it and couldn’t stop talking about the sweet little things inside, and there was even a thoughtful gift inside there for me too. SUCH thoughtful friends!
On Wednesday, it was THE perfect day to go check out the Ottawa County Fair and the beach!
The most priceless picture and smile!
I’m telling ya, this girl is a water girl!
Having an amazing park just down the road means we frequent it often! She is even learning how to ride on a swing! Okay, maybe doesn’t have the “pumping” skill down yet, but working on it!
And there is a bakery within walking (or biking in our case) distance! Thanks to the summer reading program at the local library, she earned a free cookie from the bakery. Of course you can’t go there without getting a sprinkle donut too :).
While folding a load of laundry, Mazy wanted a pair of Dan’s socks. She pulled them up and then found her in the living room, holding onto the couch, swinging her leg. I asked her what she was doing and she says “cising” which means exercising. I can’t help but wonder, is that what I look like when I’m exercising lol?
This past weekend we went to St. Joseph, our old stomping grounds, with some friends!
You can’t go downtown St. Joe and not go to the carousel if you have kids!
We could not have asked for better weather! That meant it was time for the large splash pad next to the carousel!
Those “fountains” are like fire hoses, spraying water!
Fingerpainting never gets old…especially when she ends up painting her body by the end. Choose your battles, right?
One of the house projects we have been wanting to do is paint our old kitchen chairs. We had been given the most beautiful, handmade table from our friends, which we just cherish. We wanted to paint our chairs from our old table white, to help the table standout even more. Again, the perfect day to spray some chairs!
Weekends home with daddy, just can’t be beat. I had the privilege of having a front row seat on the couch, listening to these two just enjoy life together. Cherishing these moments!
When daddy is home, Mazy has to be JUST like her daddy. Dan had a hat one, which meant she needed one too. It was quiet, so Dan peaked in our bedroom and this is what he found. Mazy had grabbed her potty chair (no she is not potty trained yet), she had taken the “insert” out, and was standing on the sides of it, trying to reach daddy’s hat. Oh my heart…
Saturday afternoons spent by the pool – we have officially called them our “date days.”
And this is the perfect place to wake up from a nap too!
Now THIS is the life, eh?
Needless to say, we are all settling right in. And oh the joy Mazy continues to bring to our life! Just can NOT imagine life without her! This past week we also made it to the
