Hard to believe we have only been here for 2 weeks! It honestly seems like much longer, in a good way because we just feel COMFORTABLE. I struggle in saying that word because I think as Christians, we shouldn’t never really be “comfortable,” but in the realm of a place to live, we feel comfortable. God so led us to the right place to live. God so led us to the right state. God so led us to the right ministry FOR US.
We are just excited to be here. Really, what an answer to prayer that is because often when people move, it’s that adjustment to a new area that can be a bear. Yes, some things have been hard, confusing, and stressful, but in the grand scheme of things, God has just abundantly provided for us.
ABUNDANCE is what we feel. Abundantly blessed.
We feel we are getting back into routine which is a healthy feeling. Been exercising regularly, getting into a solid morning time with God, getting a daily routine down, and at night going to bed, resting in the peace that God has given us. When we were in our “lull,” it was just hard to know what God was doing with us, except that we were in a break-period. Finding routine in that was a little difficult because we were always looking for the “thing” God was leading us to. Not saying God is finished with us (He never is!), but we know this is where God wants us and it is easier to get into a routine now.
Dan has been quite busy with the new job, but a good busy. I think every night he says his brain is FRIED (though he has been fighting a cold too), but to see the excitement and joy on his face when he comes home, is just priceless. To see your husband enjoy what he’s doing, realize he is being used by God, and doing what he loves, is something a wife prays for. Of course there is a LOT to do when it comes to starting in a new ministry, but it has all gone so well! It takes a little while to figure out how life runs here, how the ministry runs, and trying to see how we fit in, but again, we feel abundantly blessed because it is going well. Everyone is so helpful, SO understanding, and still so welcoming. We have a LOT of people to get to know yet, but it will come. So will the relationships with the kids. We LOVE getting to know them!
Yesterday we headed to the cities (Minneapolis) to watch the Single A Boy’s State Basketball Semi-finals. We went with one of our youth group kids and two of his friends. It was SO nice going with him because he knew where to go and what to do. One of the Christian schools that was in the semi-final was Southwest Minnesota Christian that is an hour or two from where we live, so it was fun to get to know the various schools from Minnesota who have some basketball skills :). The games were at the Target Center (where the Timberwolves play) and Williams Arena (where the Gophers play). We went to the Target Center, which was a lot of fun! It was SO easy to get there – you basically take one road and it dumps you into the parking ramp. When they had told me that, I didn’t quite understand what they were talking about, but it’s so true! Now when we go to a Minnesota Twins game (baseball) sometime, we know exactly where to go.
Dan and I are glued to the tv watching March Madness! We sometimes even have two games going on at one time because there is just so much excitement and so many great games to watch! Unfortunately we were not able to take our schoolroom-sized chalkboard with us so I couldn’t put the bracket up on that, but nevertheless, the spirit of March Madness is still in the Sterk household!
Tomorrow Dan is getting commissioned, which is exciting!
PRAISING GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!
