Around the Home
Life has been a bit crazy as of late, part of it has been our own doing, some, a bit unplanned. So almost 2 weeks ago, Mazy had tubes put in and her adenoids taken out. I feel she never made a “full” recovery, because then she ended up getting influenza A. The common flu in my book. Thankfully she had her flu shot, so I’m sure it could’ve been worse, but I will say, she was QUITE miserable for awhile there. It is NOT normal for our daughter to just fall asleep, but she did this a handful times. That was our clue she truly did not feel good! Though I’m happy to say she’s been free for well over 24 hours, so we have made the turn!
Then we got this crazy idea to re-do our hardwood floors! What started as carpet in the bedroom (which was in dire need of replacement), ended up being a whole wood floor re-do. When we received the quote on carpet, we both thought, um, no thanks! And then we realized we could re-do our hardwood floors ourselves, including our bedroom, hallway, dining room, and living room, for less than the price of carpet for ONE room. Granted, we had to replace a large area of our dining room and opted to not replace that same portion in the living room, but after putting down some stain and whole lot of sweat, it has been well worth it! I will post pics of the finished product when that time comes. Meanwhile…
Our sweet girl was so tired that she just wanted me to sing her songs. And they did her in…
Replacing the wood in the middle of the dining room:
After sanding, there sure was a mess, and Mazy wanted to join in the “fun” too, despite not feeling the greatest! She had a serious case of FOMO (fear of missing out)! She asked if she could vacuum for us and how could we say no?
On Sunday, Mazy was finally starting to feel better, so we went outside and made some homemade Gatorade slushies with the fresh snow we had just received:
Gatorade sure gave her that boost of energy she needed!
Sanding and more sanding…
Our bedroom sanded. It used to be 2 rooms – a bedroom and nursery, but a few owners previous, decided to make it one room. We just LOVE the character of our house and the little stories behind it! Here it is unstained:
And more sanding…
Mazy is on the mend and we are close to having our floors done! Thankfully we can “live” upstairs for a bit and just do some hops, skips, and steps to get to other rooms. I also am SO incredibly thankful for Dan the man. He has worked tirelessly on these floors and it has sure been a lot of work. But I remember many saying it will be so worth it in the end, and you know what? I can completely agree with that right now, even though our house is in complete chaos! We are ready to get back to life as it once was, and with Mazy healthy, but hoping to soon. House projects always add a bit of crazy, especially while living in the house! But with Mazy sick, I didn’t really want to upend her life either. But we are on the other side and we couldn’t be more thankful!
More pictures to come…
