Day 9: Hats and Gloves
What: Hats and Gloves
Why: This may not apply to all you southern folk out there, but for us northerners, it sure does – especially this past winter. Living in the north, sometimes it feels like we need to prepare for the Ice Age because it is so cold outside. Then you end up with a box FULL of hats and gloves!
Are the boxes/bins that you have your hats and gloves in, overflowing? It is TIME to go THROUGH THEM!
How: It is helpful to go through these boxes now, considering winter is over (or should be). Now you know what you wore the past year and what you didn’t.
1. What did you wear this year? Is there a reason why you wore that certain item? Did it go with a certain coat or offer a specific warmth?
2. If you have hats or gloves that go with a certain coat and you don’t even OWN that coat anymore, time to get rid of them. Or, if you have a pair of gloves or hat that doesn’t go with anything, donate them.
3. With gloves, make sure you HAVE the other one! As always, make sure nothing has a hole in it, needs to be fixed, or anything that would cause you not to wear it.
4. You could save your donations for in the wintertime when area non-profits do winter clothing donations!
Confession of the Day: As you can see, we put almost all of our hats and gloves in this box – including work gloves because we know exactly where to go to find them. So it is a random box, that has about every type of “warmth” in it (thick and thin gloves), but we know exactly where to go.
Now you are ready to go for next winter! If you need another pair of gloves or a hat, now would be the time to go looking for those clearance items in the stores!
