Do You Shine Like A Christmas Light?
One of our family’s favorite evening activities is to take a slow stroll through town, gazing at all the Christmas lights that so perfectly adorn each house. Some brighter than others, but each having their own unique shape, glow, and look. Lights beaming everywhere, each their own purpose.
What if we were all like those lights? Uniquely shining our purpose and Christ’s glory around us?
What I love about Christmas lights is that each shines bright on its own and has its own purpose amidst the darkness. But each light is connected to another, and then another, etc. Like lights, we too, as believers in Christ, are connected to our Savior, all shining bright to bring glory to our God.
And then you have the dud in the middle that is burned out, or the whole strand, which is the biggest pain, am I right? Then it’s obvious that the tree is missing some glow!
What kind of light are you? How bright is your “Christmas light”? Do you surround yourself with others who are also bright lights and together, give glory to God? May we all look first to THE Light, to ensure we are shining to imitate His light. Imagine if we ALL shined as bright as the lights we put up, to give light to this darkened world? Our sin-stained world needs the light of Christ, not just during Christmas, but every day of the year. Do you bring light into the darkness? What can you do to shine brighter through your purpose, in His Kingdom?
Let’s all bring hope, peace, love, and joy to this broken world through being “Christmas lights”.
