How Are Your Cupboards Looking?
Over a month ago I did a post about living excess.
I had read a book “More or Less” by Jeff Shinabarger that really challenged me to think about how much excess I live with. I want to share the quote that made all the difference:
“Excess is that thing that we could give away today, and it wouldn’t change a single aspect of our tomorrow. Excess is more than what we need – and in turn it may be exactly what someone else needs.”
I have been slowly working through our cupboards and maybe you have too, but boy it sure is taking me awhile! I am realizing that when there are only 2 (well 3-ish) people who eat our food, it really takes a long time to work through it all, which all the MORE, is embarrassing! Why? Because I shouldn’t have stocked that much food in the first place.
Each week I look through our cupboards, freezer, and refrigerator, wondering what else we can use up. It takes some planning and we might be eating ham for a week, but it is getting rid of the excess. More food that what we need.
So, I don’t know where you are with cleaning out your cupboards or if you now feel inspired to clear out and clean out, but here are what my cupboards look like (before and after):
