Decorating FOR Christmas should offer the same feeling. Do you ever walk into someone’s house and just DREAM of decorating the way they do? To think of the ideas they do? It is easy to get house-envy during the Christmas season. It is easy to want what others want.
What would Christmas look like if we started to decorate according to our OWN style, instead of trying to mimic someone else’s? Believe it or not, there are simple, yet classy ways to decorate, without breaking the budget and without have a multi-million dollar home.
1. Hang a homemade wreath on your door, using miscellaneous pine branches (like off the bottom of your Christmas tree, if you had to cut off a lot).
2. Use lanterns as decorative pieces on a mantle or table, with candles inside them.
3. Float candles in a bowl.
4. Make your own gift tags using paper bags, to add a natural look.
5. Use pinecones to naturally decorate – put in a glass bowl or large vase.
6. Twine and clothespins are a great way to display Christmas cards.
7. Berries, ornamental grasses, and bark are easy and disposable ways to decorate around the home.
8. Cover anything round with green, white, or red yarn or ribbon and display.
9. Wrap boxes in butcher paper or paper bags, wrapped in ribbon with a bow.
10. Frame paper letters and hang or set up against a wall, like JOY, HOPE, PEACE.
