The Answer is Simple
Jesus.
I don’t know about you, but have you found yourself asking, “What is going on?”
If I’m honest, I have not watched the news in quite some time. And yes, it has been intentional. For one, I miss the news for what it once was. A reporting of what is happening in our local communities, both good and bad. I feel it has taken a turn. Second, the news isn’t about what is happening, but how we should see an event through a certain lens, whatever that lens may be. I remember in the newspaper, they used to have a reporting of police calls and it simply listed what happened. Period. Granted I haven’t looked at a newspaper in awhile, but I’m not certain that is not how it is anymore.
I have wrestled deeply with the results of the riots, protests, words spoken on social media, and now, unspoken. If silent, then I’m part of the problem. But if I speak up, it better be in line with what everyone else thinks. If I do “this”, then I’m choosing sides. If I don’t do this, I’m choosing sides. I have a hard time understanding why there are sides and the ultimatums are intense. Do you feel them too?
Same with the coronavirus. I have never seen more division over a virus. A VIRUS, people! Why are we so divided?
WHAT IS GOING ON??
Like I said in a Facebook post a few months ago, I feel like the devil is winning. There is so much division being created and we are causing him to celebrate. And yes, we are the cause for the division. No one is to blame, but us and our sinful selves. We are all searching for what to do, what’s right, and what’s wrong. And why are we constantly searching? Because we are searching for the WRONG thing.
THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE. Yet we continue to look horizontally for our comfort. For our platform. For our saving grace. And yet the answer can and FOREVER will only be found…vertically. In Jesus Himself.
It’s a matter of the heart. MY HEART. My heart is just as broken and in need of repairs, just like everyone else’s. I’m in need of grace just as much as my neighbor does. I’m in need of restoration, as much as the person sitting in the jail cell. I’m in need of Jesus, just like everyone else.
Equality. Healing. Truth. Every single issue in this world, all falls at the foot of the cross. Every single struggle our world is facing, has a simple answer. And it’s five letters long. It’s not a 100-page document. It doesn’t have to be figured out in the courts. It doesn’t have to be tested to see if it’ll work. It doesn’t have to look a certain way. It doesn’t have to “do” anything. For what was needed, has already been done. And it’s been finished on the cross.
The answer is JESUS.
