What’s Inside Our Closet?
I know this sounds like a strange question – but really, what you wear, describes a lot about who you are. Hence why I am telling you about what we wear :). Also, what we wear, also describes what we do. I bet you never thought that your clothes mattered this much :)!!
Dan – Dan is a polo/t-shirt and jeans type of guy. He is a youth pastor, and I suppose he fits the typical youth pastor style (to some extent). He goes to work in jeans and a polo type shirt almost everyday. He still has his outdoorsy roots in him, which means he likes QUALITY clothes. But as most of you know, quality also means quantities of money. BUT, as I have learned over the years, paying the extra $5.00 or more, is worth. As much as that guy doesn’t like to shop, he buys quality. (Tangent…he had to get a new shirt on Saturday for a wedding – I did not go with him. That boy was back SO FAST that I wondered if he even went to the store! Sure enough, he got a new shirt and a new tie – now that’s what I call speed shopping!). Anyways, Dan appreciates Under Armour t-shirts and pullovers, and in the winter, he cannot go out the door without his Denali North Face Fleece. Bless his dear heart that many of his clothes are bought with gift money. I really appreciate that about him – that if he wants something “special” or more expensive, he will wait til he has his own money for it. He loves American Eagle jeans b/c they fit him best. He’s the type of guy who will have 2ish pairs of jeans and just wear them til the butt wears out. He’s got his own hunting clothes (which he has a plethora of) – but I definitely see where they are needed! In the summer, he’s a khaki shorts, t-shirt guy. I LOVE his style because it fits who we are. Casual, hangin’ out type of clothes. Dan is a very chill type of guy and that definitely explains his clothing style.
Kristin – I dress rather similar to Dan (don’t worry, we don’t share clothes). If I’m not working at the bookstore (which I have to dress up for), I am found in jeans and a nicer t-shirt. I have about 3 pairs of jeans (2 now b/c I just ripped a whole in a pair), because jeans are hard to find that aren’t $100/pair I have a 37 1/2 inch inseam. ALL of my 6’1″ height is in my legs. (Dan’s is in his torso). I ate shopping for jeans because it’s a never ending battle of length. Same with dress pants – I find a style and buy multiples in that color. I am a fairly active person, so you’ll find me in basketball shorts, tennis shoes, and t-shirts often as well. For being a girl, I don’t think I have a ton of clothes (though Dan may beg to differ). Why would he? Well, we share a SMALL closet, so things get interesting – he claims I’m a hanger stealer – whatever – it’s all in his head :). Shoes – I never really buy shoes, except new tennis shoes. I like my sweatshirts and being casual because hanging out with kids, you never know what you’re going to do next. I enjoy getting dressed up, but only on occasion. I don’t like spending a lot of time in the bathroom b/c I think it’s a WASTE of time. I have my daily routine and Dan and I get ready in just about the same amount of time (depending if I have to dry my hair or not). I’ve had the same make-up routine for about the past 50 years (maybe that’s an exaggeration), and I tend to do the same thing with my hair – either completely down, or in a pony tail. And where do I shop? Well, I don’t shop very often, but I will go on “sprees” where I realize I just need new clothes, so I buy for both Dan and I. I like T.J.Maxx, the outlets in Michigan City, Target, Kohl’s, Aeropostale, Gap, and any place I can have a coupon to accompany the item I am buying 🙂 (like at Gap, Aeropostale, Kohl’s). If I buy new clothes, I get rid of the stuff I don’t need and donate to Goodwill.
I suppose you could say we are rather “simple” so to speak. I enjoy different styles, but I will find those different styles on a clearance rack. Our youth group kids definitely let me know what’s IN style, which is fun because they are pretty up on the fashions, but I tend to just stay in my little trend :). I’m sure for those who know us, what we wear definitely describes what we do :). Just like moms don’t wear a lot of necklaces b/c they know they’ll just get ripped off by their child!
I know this is kind of an odd post, but I thought it’d just give ya another glimpse into our life!
