New Year, New YOU: Tip #2 – Planner and Calendar
Tip # 2 – Fill out ONE calendar and ONE planner.
There is no need to have 3 planners. Really. Maybe two – one for personal and one for business. Managing multiple planners means you are REALLY good at multi-tasking.
Having ONE calendar for all to see and your own personal planner, is plenty. Don’t buy multiples just because they are cute or you THINK you will use them.
Kristin’s Action Plan: I have one large calendar on our wall and one planner for me personally, where I keep all of the other little details written down. This way my husband can see exactly what it going on in the week, but not be overwhelmed by all the writing (I save that for my planner).
Procrastination. I'm horrible at putting things off.
Procrastination is sometimes the worst enemy isn't it when it comes to organizing!?
I have a planner problem. I still can't find one that meets all of my needs. :/
What a great idea Crystle! I have heard of more people doing that, and with a little time, they were able to make exactly what they wanted, instead of spending money on something they don't really like in the first place.
I agree, when I try to use more than our family calendar and some sort of personal planner, I end up forgetting something.
Yes! This is the system that works for me, but it could still be revamped too 🙂
i'm hoping to read about small space organizing solutions.
That has been a common suggestion – I definitely need to do some more posts on small space organizing! Thank you for sharing!
My wall calander looks too cluttered, I should start using a planner.
I can see that! I use our wall calendar for events, where I use my planner for the details of the events, if that makes sense
I live the idea of a central calendar!
Haha – I also LOVE the idea!! 😉
I use my phone most often for my personal calendar, since there is an alarm that I can set as a reminder….2 weeks before, 1 day, 10 min, etc. It is all backed up and synced to my Google account. However, since I can't use my phone at work I have to keep a written calendar for meetings, paperwork dates, etc. At work, I also use the calendar on our email (Outlook) because I can use the reminders there like I do with my phone.
Hit enter too soon… I'd like to read more about using space efficiently and being better at tossing what I don't need.
LOVE the idea of being able to use your phone as a "planner" of sorts! Especially that it can send reminders! I have a dumb phone, but so far the system of one calendar/planner is working :). I like the idea of wanting to hear ideas on how to use space efficiently! Thank you for sharing Lisa!
Looking forward to more ways to improve in 2014~
I have w hard time keeping one, though I would like to!! I can't fit all I need in a small one, so i have a big one, but it's less portable, do its nice to have a smaller one, too. But then again, I carry around a diaper bag, & my diy binder planner does fit in that…
I found that too, that the bigger planners are hard to keep control of (especially in a purse). That is why I use our wall calendar for events and then use my planner for lists, ideas, the little details, etc. A DIY binder planner? I'd love to hear more about that!
Looking forward to reading more. Same as Karen S. above 🙂
Wonderful! Hope you find some inspiration here in this new year 🙂
Trying to figure out how to use technology along with the planner and calendar.
I know with the smartphones out there today, you can sync your calendars! I do not have a smartphone, but if you do, check out the ways to do that! I know some people don't have a calendar – they just use their phone!
I recently began using the cozi app and I can categorize my calendar and share it with family. It's great!
Cozi is wonderful! I signed up for it at one point, but I wasn't on my computer enough to use it (and I don't have a smartphone). But I would highly recommend Cozi! Great idea Antoinette!
Awesome Karen! I like how you said every possible inch – it is some of those "unseen" inches that can collect the most STUFF! Thanks for sharing Karen!
