Easter Changes Everything
Easter candy. Easter baskets. Easter dresses. Easter bunnies. Easter eggs. Walking the aisles of a store, it is clear that marketers are taking advantage of this holiday, for personal gain. But how many are missing the point?
Easter isn’t just about pastels and floppy eared bunnies. No, Easter has changed EVERYTHING.
Easter changes death. Easter changes life. Our hope. Our priorities. Our future. It is a reminder of who is in sovereign control and what He can do, and what He’s done for us.
Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
The same God who raised Christ from the dead, is the same one that lives in US. Yes, YOU. The same God who can do FAR MORE than we ask or can even imagine. That THE God back then, is no different than THE God we serve now. First, let that thought sink in. The same God who rose Jesus from the grave is the same God who lives in us. Wow. How humbling is that?
So how do we allow Easter to change our everyday lives? Well, it changes how we see people. When the trumpet sounds, I don’t want to look to those on my right or left, wishing I would’ve done more for His Kingdom. Christ is coming again! Do all those in your life know him? Do you live your life in a way that is a representation of the what was done on the cross? Or does your life offer confusion as to what it means to live for Christ whole-heartedly? Let Easter remind you that this world NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT EASTER IS REALLY ABOUT! For I am no more deserving of his sacrifice than anyone else. We are ALL equal at the foot of the cross and ALL need Jesus. Care about others the way Jesus cared about us.
Easter also changes us on the inside. Romans 7:4 which says, “So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.”
What should be our response to his death on the cross? A desire to bear fruit for God. Do you daily seek to grow fruit on your branches? Do you allow the truth of the gospel to CHANGE you? Do you take up your cross and follow him? We often think the cross is too heavy or too cumbersome, so we try to find an easier way and live life the way we want to live. Trying to find our own way. An easier way. Maybe we carry the cross “most” of the time, but only when it’s convenient because sharing in Christ’s sufferings is too hard.
That’s not Easter. Easter is a call to gratitude and an all-out, pedal to the metal, life for Christ, in response to what He’s done for us, no matter what our circumstances may be. We have no need to fear death, this life, or our circumstances because God is sovereign over it all. He has defeated it all! So bear that fruit. Take up that cross. Follow him. LET EASTER CHANGE HOW YOU LIVE YOUR DAILY LIFE! Let it bring you to the foot of the cross in gratitude for the great and mighty things HE has done! HE IS RISEN!
What a powerful reminder of the true significance of Easter! Your post beautifully emphasizes that Easter isn’t just about the superficial aspects like candy and bunnies, but it’s about the profound transformation that Christ’s resurrection brings to our lives. I appreciate how you draw attention to the incredible power and sovereignty of God, reminding us that the same God who raised Jesus from the dead is alive in each of us. Your call to action to live a life fully surrendered to Christ and to share His love with others is inspiring. Thank you for sharing this meaningful reflection on Easter’s significance and its implications for our daily lives. HE IS RISEN indeed!
Thank you for your words and encouragement!
